Reaction Paper

Egypt is pleased about what happened yesterday at the Security Council meeting. We still stand by our comment that our main goal has been and always will be to achieve peace in the Middle East. We were happy that no country said that they were going to take immediate actions on a certain country for what transpired. We also will continue to take a strong stand against terrorism. We were a little surprised when our fellow Arab League member Syria admitted to funding the terrorist group Hezbollah. We in no way condone this action and in no way support Syria’s funding of Hezbollah. We believe that terrorism must be eliminated in order to create peace in the Middle East. We also will continue to stand by our comment that Egypt may need to develop Nuclear Weapons in the future. We also do not agree with statements by Iran and Syria blaming the United States for this bombing. As the United States is one of our greatest allies we support them in their efforts to help create peace in the Middle East. We would also like to reiterate that we will continue to support Israeli and Palestinian peace talks in the region. In closing I would just like to say that Egypt is willing to do whatever we feel is necessary to create peace throughout the Middle East.
